Published service description
If you are feeling sad, worried or isolated as an expectant or new parent, please ring the Health Visitor team for your area and ask for a Health Visitor to ring you and arrange a visit at your home. You can pop into one of our baby hubs and speak to a member of staff.
All Health Visitors are trained to support parents and infants with their emotional wellbeing and mental health. As part of this, Health Visitors or other members of the team will talk to you about how you are feeling and will discuss wider issues relevant to you and your family that may impact on health and well-being.
When your Health Visitor discusses emotional wellbeing, this encompasses mental health conditions as well as the way we experience the world and feel about our situation. Promoting emotional wellbeing is about supporting people to feel positive, function well and enjoy positive relationships, not just treating symptoms of mental health.
Please do get in touch with the Health Visiting Service if you would like support or guidance at any point.
