Optional Google Analytics cookies
Google Analytics loads only if you accept analytics cookies. It helps us understand visits to public pages, including the page viewed, broad traffic source and device/browser information. Google processes this information under its service terms and privacy policy. Advertising storage, Google signals and advertising personalisation are disabled in our integration.
We exclude account, admin, alert, unsubscribe, correction, claim, shortlist and search pages. We remove query strings and URL fragments, limit referrers to their website origin, and do not send form entries, medical records, email addresses or postcode searches. Public page visits can reveal which healthcare information interests you, so you can browse without analytics by choosing Reject analytics.
Your analytics choice is stored on this device for 180 days. If accepted, first-party Google Analytics cookies (_ga and _ga_0V0P0PE0WH) distinguish browser visits and sessions, with a configured lifetime of 180 days. Use Cookie settings in the footer to change your choice. Rejecting removes this site’s Google Analytics cookies and stops further measurement; it does not delete information already processed by Google. Blocking browser storage can prevent us remembering your choice.
Browsing and searches
You can browse the public directory without an account. A postcode search uses a location reference point to find nearby services. It does not require your name, NHS number or medical records.
Search terms, postcodes and shortlist contents are not included in routine analytics events. The hosting and security infrastructure may process ordinary request information to deliver and protect the service. Avoid entering medical details into a provider or place search.
Shortlists and optional accounts
The browser shortlist is stored on your device. Other people using the same browser may be able to see it. You can remove entries or clear the shortlist. Optional account features use your account identifier to associate saved information with you.
Account and alert information is kept separate from the public directory. It is not exposed through the public data API.
Forms and correspondence
Correction forms collect the details needed to investigate the issue. Do not include medical records, patient names, appointment details or other sensitive information. An account or provider claim does not grant permission to alter official source data.
External services and control
Following an external link, including a map or provider website, takes you to a service with its own privacy policy. We do not embed third-party map requests before you choose to use the map feature.
Use the contact and correction form for privacy requests, including requests relating to account or submitted-form information. Retention follows the purpose of the record and any necessary security or audit requirements.
