Since 1919 Henleaze Swimming Club in North Bristol has offered open water swimming, springboard or high diving in beautiful surroundings.
Situated in the heart of the Bristol suburb of Henleaze, only a mile from the Downs and three miles from the city centre, this former quarry is surrounded by lawns and beautiful trees. The Lake is about four hundred metres long and between thirty and sixty metres wide. The swimming area varies throughout the year; from 70 metres in the winter to 220 metres in high summer.
The average depth of the Lake is approximately three metres increasing to six metres under the diving area. There is a springboard and two fixed diving boards (5 metres and 7.5 metres). There is a sauna to warm up in before or after your swim.
The lake is only suitable for competent swimmers and passing a 50-metre swimming test is an essential requirement for membership.
