Ask about stairs, getting in and out of bed, seating height and transport. An occupational therapist can help assess practical tasks and equipment; a physiotherapist can guide movement and strength.

Know who is responsible after discharge

Before leaving, confirm medicines, wound or procedure-specific care, follow-up dates and the right contact for concerns. Ask which symptoms need urgent help and keep those instructions accessible.

Check therapy and support funding

Ask whether recommended therapy is included, arranged through the NHS or needs a separate referral. If you need help with daily living, ask about assessment before buying a care package.
