Different gaps have different meanings
Missing means the relevant value is not present in the source or cannot be matched reliably. Suppressed means the publisher intentionally withheld it. Not applicable means the measure does not describe that service. Stale means it falls outside the freshness rule used for that claim.
Check the comparison population
A measure may cover an NHS trust, a contract, a practice, a site or an area. We do not transfer it to a different organisation level just because names or addresses resemble one another.
Rates need a relevant denominator. A raw activity count often reflects size, while a survey percentage can be uncertain when the sample is small.
Ask what could be missing from the picture
A provider may have no published value because of its service type, reporting coverage or a recent organisational change. Use the source notes and official links to understand that gap before drawing a conclusion.
