Separate current access from historical activity
NHS activity data reports work in a defined period. It does not demonstrate that a practice is accepting a new course of NHS treatment today. CQC registration also does not establish funding arrangements.
Ask specific questions
An adult appointment, a child’s appointment, an urgent appointment and a specialist referral can follow different arrangements. Ask the practice to confirm the route relevant to you.
- Is NHS treatment available for this patient and treatment?
- Is there a waiting list, and what does joining it mean?
- Would any part of the proposed treatment be private?
- Can the practice provide a written treatment plan and charges?
Check the official directory
Use the NHS dental service information alongside the practice’s own contact details. Availability can change faster than published data, so verify it before travelling.
