Start with the actual site

A provider group or NHS trust can operate multiple locations. Confirm where each part of your care would happen. A group’s registered office is not necessarily a place you can attend for treatment.

Treat straight-line distance as a starting point

Directory distances are approximate straight-line distances from a postcode reference point. They do not account for roads, public transport, mobility needs, traffic or parking. Check a journey planner and the provider’s visiting information.

Compare repeated journeys

Think about how many visits may be involved and whether someone needs to accompany you. A shorter published wait may come with practical trade-offs that matter to you.

  • Which building and entrance would I need?
  • Are step-free access, toilets and parking arrangements suitable?
  • What happens if public transport is delayed?
  • Could tests and follow-up take place at different sites?
  • Is there an official route to travel-cost help or patient transport assessment?
